Northwest Steel Erection was awarded the steel erection for the renovation of the existing Veteran's Auditorium in Des Moines. This project consisted of complete demolition of the entire interior seating and concourse levels. The demolition left just the exterior shell of the auditorium. The steel erection was then required up to 4 levels INSIDE the existing structure. While the inside steel erection provided our crews with comfortable conditions throughout the winter months, it required extensive planning from our team. This planning included crane sizing for headroom and outrigger pressures, steel sequencing, and management of the schedule. The schedule required that Northwest Steel work multiple shifts at different stages of the project.

Our team of up to 35 ironworkers did a wonderful job on safety, quality, and production. Our team consisted of Ryan Stuadt (Project Manager), Jim Alitz (Superintendent), Chaz Keller (Erection Foreman), and Mason McGaffin (General Foreman)
